The Need To Control
By Mary Anne Cipressy David Trippany ITSC
We all have come across others that we refer to as control freaks. Perhaps even you have been called a control freak. Where do all these control issues stem from? Why do we seem to have this need to control? There are several explanations for this and we will be discussing them.
First let’s look at control for what it is. It is associated with words like to exercise restraint, direction over, dominate and command. There words do not feel very light do they? Control is a response to fear. When one is fearful one can respond by trying to control the situation, experience or another person. The need to control is nothing more than a fear response. This fear response can manifest in many forms. The individual is placing their fears outside of themselves, asking the external world to change so that they no longer are fearful and asking others to respond to their fear so that they are no longer fearful. The fear resides with the individual and they are projecting outward onto others in ore to enact some sort of change onto their external world so that they no longer feel fearful in any of it forms.
Because the fear is a vibration that this individual is functioning from, the Law of Attraction is responding to those vibrations and reflecting experiences that are a manifestation of those vibrations. The individual responds to this by trying to exert control over what has manifested which heightens the fear within the person causing even more manifestations that reflect back the fear experiences. It becomes a vicious cycle and explains why individuals with control issues are never satisfied. They can’t be because they are caught up in the repeating cycle where the need to control grows with each experience. It can be said that the need to control is a defense mechanism in response to fear.
Another aspect of this need to control relates to the difference between control and create. Many who are wrapped up in their control issues are not aware of the difference. There are those who misunderstand what the Law of Attraction is about and see it as a way of controlling their life and what happens in their life. The Law of Attraction is about creating and not controlling. One may assume that if you are creating then therefore you are in fact able to control. You are always creating. It is just a matter of what your creation set point is.
Is it based in fear or is it based in joy. When one has a need to control and sees the Law of Attraction as a way of controlling ones life, their creation set point is based in fear. When one creates based in manifesting a joy based desire, then the creation set point is based in joy. The Law of Attraction responds to you the individual, your vibrations, your energy. This is the only thing you have the power to control. You can control your thoughts, your beliefs and your emotions; thereby effecting the vibrations you are using to create with.
When one wants to control they are using the energy of fear to create with. Those whose focus and attention is on creating desires that are based in joy are using the energy of joy with which to create with.
Where control needs to be placed is on oneself. It is an internal placement rather than an external placement. Ones external world; those experiences you have are a reflection of what is going on inside of you. They are a reflection of the vibrations associated with your thoughts, beliefs and emotions. When you shift them, change them you can create with a different energy.
When one lets go of control; one gains control. When you let go of your need to control your external life experiences and begin to control yourself internally, then and only then can you begin to create a life that is based in joy as opposed to fear. When you let go of the fear that grips your life then you can begin to create from a joy based creation set point.
